International Youth Festival 2019 at Sri Aurobindo College

With the efforts to cater education and make it inclusive for all youth, Sri Aurobindo College (Evening), celebrated the International Youth Day and 9th Youth Summit and Awards 2019 on 9th August 2019 in association with All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice in the college premises. University aims at effective learning process with holistic approach. To encourage its students in academics, the college took a step forward to applaud its students who not only excel in academics but also for their all-round performance and excellence. The college also recognize those students who had started an E-News Bulletin and News Letters, only on their initiatives. One student from each department was a given a certificate for his/her achievements. The members of student union were also awarded for their constant contribution for the college. Even the various societies which are the heart of the college were awarded too.



In fact United Nations General Assembly designated 12th August as the International Youth Day in 1999 with an objective to make young men and women aware of new challenges to be faced by the youth of the world. Today our college commemorated the IYD with the theme of ‘Transforming Education’.

The Youth Festival started with the ‘Lighting of Lamp’ by Dr. Namita Rajput (Principal), Dr. Pratap Chauhan (Founder, Jeeva and distinguished guest), Dr. Anthony Raju (President of All India Council of Human Right, Liberties and Social Justice), Maj. Gen. Satbir Singh, Dr. June, Mr. Vijay Srivastav, Miss Anila Sharma and other teachers of the college. The lighting of the lamp was followed by National Anthem and then ‘Sarswati Vandana’ by the students of Music Department. Dramatic Society students presented a play.



The Principal welcomed the guests and addressed the students with her by saying that, “Our children deserve this honour.” She further added some poetic lines, “Utho, jago aur desh ko naye shikhar tak lekar jao. Dr. June in her speech said, “It is not to learn but just to learn how to learn”. She also stressed upon gender equality. Dr. Ama also enlightened and advised the student to remain away from ‘Drug Abuse’. Maj. Gen Satbir Singh said, “To expect results without direction is unfair. Direction without supervision is incomplete. And Supervision with advice is incomplete.” Anthony Raju talked about One India. Maj. Rupinder Singh Marco talked to promote education in remote areas and eradicate poverty through education.

In the event, college started a new society ‘Photography Society’ to encourage students to sharpen their photographic skills and make a career in the same. The Society was inaugurated by the college Principal and Mrs. Kalpana Rohit during the event.

All India Council for Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice presented with a memento and a symbol of gratitude to Dr Namita Rajput. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Anil Singh, Chairperson, IQAC.
