Inaugural of ATAL Online Faculty Development Programme on Indian Heritage Management

Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Haryana organized Inaugural Session for five days ATAL ONLINE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON INDIAN HERITAGE MANAGEMENT from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The first session was the Inauguration ceremony of 72 online ATAL FDPs that started at 11:00 am was conducted at Central Level by AICTE. Mr Ravindra Kumar Soni (Director AICTE ATAL Academy) welcomed all the dignitaries and participants with opening remarks.


Mr Soni shared the objectives of the ATAL FDPs, present status, contributors involved and future perspectives. He also pointed out the increased number of female participation due to the initiative. Mr Soni mentioned the new government of India initiative of Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) and new ATAL FDP services on the UMANG app. He briefly explained the 72 Institutes that are contributing through their FDPs.

The Inaugural session  at Amity University Haryana for the FDP was graced by Prof. Padmakali Banarjee, Pro Vice chancellor , Amity University Haryana, Prof. Arunangshu Bhattacharya, Dy. Director ,Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Haryana and the  Special Guests.

1. Prof. Arunangshu Bhattacharya address his thoughts with the people about Heritage Management . He said " Heritage is a Legacy left by the past for the future".

2.The Pro Vice Chancellor Mam focused on Sustainable Goals, Zero carbon concepts, emphasis on role of Academic Institutions and to create a road map for the Heritage of India.

3.Prof Prashant Gautam,Professor, UIHTM . He focused on Digital Heritage to be included in the coming times. He explains about the Indian Heritage with the help of stories, tradition and culture of the country. He gave the insights with the help of celestial events so that participants can understand about Heritage Management. His focus was on digital management and also How to manage the Heritage Management.

4. Prof. Ashish Dahiya, Professor-Hotel & Tourism Management, Director for Centre for Life skills& Soft Skills, MDU-Rohtak focused on prevailing practices in Heritage Management. He focused on connecting people and life style, identification of best practices, involvement of national agencies and other stakeholders in heritage management. He presented about the challenges and opportunities about the heritage management which India is facing. The enlightening point which he focused was to put again into consideration our Ancient old practice “Ayurveda”.

5.Mr. Anil Oraw, Regional Director (North), India Tourism Delhi shared his practical experience with the participants. He focused on Community participation and their involvement in Heritage Industry. He also highlighted the problems of the people those who are involved in promoting local heritage.


The aim of FDP was to enable key participants, through targeted training, to independently transform heritage assets from decaying objects of study to dynamic sources of learning, community identity and economic development.
